Rothman Addresses the Jewish Federation of Greater Monmouth County in Washington, DC
(Washington, DC)— Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) spoke out against the President's proposed cuts to important social welfare programs during a Jewish Federation of Greater Monmouth County luncheon in Washington, DC on April 5.
"I oppose the President's policy of taking from those who have the least in order to give a huge tax break to those who make over $400,000 a year. Not only does it make no economic sense, but it's also unjust," he said.
The Jewish Federation brought together approximately 40 Jewish leaders for a day of educational briefings on national issues that impact the United States, Monmouth County, New Jersey and Jewish communities throughout the world.
Rothman is the only Jewish member of the House of Representatives from New Jersey. He sits on the Foreign Operations Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, which makes decisions about foreign aid for Israel and other countries.
