(Hackensack, NJ)— To increase public understanding of stem cell research and the ethical questions involved in this new area of medicine, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) led a roundtable discussion on the topic at the Hackensack University Medical Center on Friday, June 2. Leading researchers, an ethicist, and experts on Parkinson's disease, juvenile diabetes, and leukemia all attended the event, titled Stem Cell Research: Making the Promise a Reality.
"I am proud to work with Senator Menendez to raise awareness about stem cell research. Thanks to this promising new area of science, we no longer have to give up hope of new treatments or even cures when our loved ones are stricken with debilitating and devastating diseases, such as cancer, Parkinson's disease, or diabetes." said Rothman.
