(Washington, DC)— On Thursday, June 8, Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) spoke to Greek-Americans and Cypriot-Americans who were in Washington, DC for the 17th Annual Cyprus Conference. In his remarks, Rothman highlighted his strong support for ongoing U.S. funding for United Nations peacekeeping troops in Cyprus and a bi-communal, bi-zonal federal unified Republic of Cyprus.

Rothman is a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, the subcommittee of 13 people that makes all decisions about foreign aid to Cyprus. Since joining that subcommittee in 2001, Rothman has helped secure approximately $100 million in U.S. foreign aid for Cyprus. He is also a member of the Congressional Hellenic Caucus.
