(Teaneck, NJ)— On Sunday, September 17th, Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) helped OHEL Children's Home and Family Services launch the organization's New Jersey Headquarters in Teaneck. Mayor Elie Katz, Senator Loretta Weinberg, Councilman Adam Gussen, OHEL President Moishe Hellman, and OHEL CEO David Mandel were also on hand for the grand opening.
OHEL, which has been recognized for its outstanding foster care programs in New York City, will work with at-risk youth and provide mental health counseling services for Northern New Jerseyans in the new Teaneck office. It will also facilitate permanent homes for all children in need of foster care.
As a member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, which makes recommendations about all U.S. spending, Rep. Rothman secured $250,000 to enable OHEL's community mentors to provide counseling and intervention programs in New Jersey.
OHEL has been active in the Jewish community in New York and Northern New Jersey for 37 years. It recently received, for the second consecutive year, the number one ranking for quality level out of all foster boarding home and group residential programs operated in New York City.
