(Fort Lee, NJ)— On Friday, October 20th, Reps. Steve Rothman (D-Fair Lawn) and Rush Holt (D-Hopewell Township) joined history enthusiasts at the Fort Lee Historic Park to celebrate the formal creation of the "Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area." This federal designation for hundreds of sites in New Jersey will help preserve the park, promote education, and encourage tourism at Fort Lee and other Crossroads sites.
"By the creation of a national heritage area honoring New Jersey as the Crossroads of the American Revolution, we ensure that the lessons of our history never lose their meaning or immediacy. This heritage area will weave together many of our significant Revolutionary War sites into a compelling narrative that people of all ages, of all backgrounds, and all interests may experience for themselves," said Rothman.
Also joining Holt and Rothman at the event were Assemblywoman Joan Voss; Fort Lee Mayor Jack Alter; James Hall, Superintendent of Palisades Interstate Park Commission; John Muller, Director of Fort Lee Historic Park; Carol Messer, Director of Bergen County Cultural and Historical Affairs; and Kevin Tremble, President of the Crossroads of the American Revolution Association.
