“I am pleased that the House of Representatives moved forward today on health care reform with the introduction of the Affordable Health Care for America Act.  As a strong supporter of universal single-payer health insurance, otherwise known as Medicare for all, this bill will not deliver the kind of complete overhaul that I prefer.  However, I am hopeful that the bill takes enough significant steps forward that it will earn my support.

The bill was just released this morning. It is almost 2000 pages long and over the next several days I, along with my staff, will read the entire bill and the independent analyses that will no doubt be released shortly.  This is probably the most important domestic policy vote of my 13 years in Congress so I will not make a decision about my vote on the bill until I have completed my review process.”
